The Role: Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team in London. This is a maternity cover position for up to 12 months, offering the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of survivors of domestic abuse.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support and guidance to victims of domestic abuse, tailoring your approach to their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Develop and implement safety plans to mitigate risks and enhance the well-being of survivors.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multi-agency network, including law enforcement, social services, and other support organizations, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and provide expert advice on safeguarding measures.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of victims within legal proceedings and other relevant forums.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • A deep understanding of domestic abuse dynamics, its impact on survivors, and effective intervention strategies.
  • Proven experience in providing direct support to victims of domestic violence or other vulnerable individuals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of your work.
  • Strong crisis management skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
