Position Title: Senior Environmental Engineering Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineering Specialist to join our team, focusing on the critical task of maintaining safe and dependable drinking water systems across the state. This position offers a unique chance to collaborate with a team of committed public health experts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performing thorough inspections and sanitary evaluations of water facilities.
  • Analyzing and interpreting applicable federal and state regulations regarding water systems.
  • Advising facility owners and operators on compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Assisting facilities in achieving compliance when standards are not met.
  • Reviewing engineering plans for new or expanded water systems.
  • Providing training to operators on the effective operation and maintenance of water systems.
  • Communicating drinking water quality information to the public.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge and experience in biology, microbiology, chemistry, engineering principles, and mathematics.
  • Capability to make informed engineering judgments.
  • Strong communication skills in English, including technical report writing.
  • Ability to oversee and guide others.
  • Expertise in engineering principles related to drinking water.

Additional Requirements:

  • Possession of a Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
