Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Misuse Specialist to join our team at HMP Five Wells, a category C prison located in Wellingborough.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical care to patients, including prescribing medication and conducting comprehensive assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake clinical nursing practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients.
- Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers, and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
- Prescribe medication within their sphere of competence.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients looked after.
- Provide advice and support in relation to crisis situations, conditions, and treatment plans, based on medical and treatment history.
- Conduct clinical reviews with patients and update care plans accordingly.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Registered professional with current active registration (NMC, GPHC, HCPC).
- BSc or equivalent qualification.
- Non-medical prescribing qualification.
- Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services, including Clinical Governance, Quality & Outcomes Framework.
- Knowledge of national standards that inform practice (e.g., National Service Frameworks, NICE guidelines).
