Join ScottishPower, a leading energy company, in a challenging and rewarding role as a Design Engineer. As a key member of our Main Plant Engineering team, you will play a crucial part in supporting the delivery of our ambitious transmission network projects in central and southern Scotland.

About the Role

  1. Define Main Plant and ancillary apparatus requirements for input to System Construction Authorisation (SCA), Project Technical Specifications, and BETTA documentation.
  2. Accountable for basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs for Networks and all aspects of the Main Plant System.
  3. Provide engineering specialism in the field of Switchgear, Transformers, and all other associated substation equipment.
  4. Take ownership of technical assessment of tender submissions, preparation/review of Main Plant design drawings and specifications.
  5. Ensure the Main Plant and equipment proposed for the substation are in accordance with current legislation, policies, and operational requirements.
  6. Provide technical support to the Project team on matters concerning the design, construction, and operation of all switchgear, transformers, and associated substation apparatus.
  7. Responsible for engineering documentation following quality processes to meet deliverables for PQP's and BETTA.
  8. Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality, and environment compliance and continuous improvement.
  9. Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practice and assist with evaluation and application of new ideas, technical developments, and alternative-working methods.
  10. Assess engineering documentation, feasibility, and compliance with business requirements and support the preparation of accurate budgets for new projects.
