About the Role

Carr Gomm is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Appropriate Adult, providing critical communication support to vulnerable individuals within the Criminal Justice System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent communication support to vulnerable victims, witnesses, suspects, and accused persons aged 16 and over.
  • Ensure that individuals with mental disorders are not disadvantaged during police processes.
  • Work collaboratively with police and other investigatory bodies to provide effective support.
  • Develop and maintain a non-judgmental attitude, prioritizing the well-being and dignity of service users.
  • Meet the requirements of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 and the 2019 regulations.
Requirements
  • Experience in mental health, learning disabilities, dementia, autism, and/or acquired brain injuries.
  • Ability to work under pressure, sometimes in challenging environments.
  • Reliability and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Availability to attend call-outs within one and a half hours of receiving a request.
  • Commitment to at least 4 days out of 7, including overnight availability.
