About the Opportunity:

UKSP Recruit is seeking a highly skilled Ecologist to join our team. As a key member of our environmental consulting team, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork, including habitat and bat surveys, and providing expert advice to clients on environmental matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fieldwork, including habitat and bat surveys, to assess the environmental impact of development projects.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on environmental matters, including biodiversity net gain assessments and protected species surveys.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans to minimize the impact of development on the environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver environmental consulting services to clients.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant environmental policies and regulations, including the NPPF and local plans.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience as a Senior Ecologist.
  • Must possess at least two species licenses.
  • Demonstrated experience in fieldwork, including habitat and bat surveys.
  • A solid track record in office-based consultancy tasks such as reporting and mapping.
  • Level 1 Class Licence for bat surveys, with other survey licenses welcomed.
  • Strong botanical identification skills.
  • Experience in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Assessments and using the UKHab classification.
  • Capability to conduct regular fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership of CIEEM.
  • Level 2 Class Licence for bat surveys.
  • Licenses for other protected species surveys.
  • Experience in EPS Mitigation Licensing.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping.
  • Understanding of relevant protected species planning policies, including the NPPF and local plans, in relation to development.
