About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Museum Conservator to join our team at the City of Birmingham. As a key member of our museum staff, you will be responsible for the preservation and conservation of our art collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement conservation and restoration procedures to maintain and restore the condition of our art collections.
  • Collaborate with curators, conservators, and other museum staff to ensure the long-term preservation of our collections.
  • Conduct research and analysis to determine the condition of art objects and develop effective conservation and restoration plans.
  • Lead and participate in conservation and restoration projects, including the preparation of art objects for exhibition and storage.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of conservation and restoration techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide training and guidance to museum staff on conservation and restoration procedures.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Conservation or a related field.
  • Experience working as a conservator or in a related field.
  • Knowledge of conservation and restoration techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
