The City of Birmingham is seeking a highly skilled Museum Collections Specialist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for utilizing professional conservation techniques to maintain art objects, prepare museum collections for storage or exhibition, and research art objects to preserve their history.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer departmental budget and resources
- Assign and review work tasks to ensure efficient conservation and restoration of art objects
- Oversee the conservation and restoration of art objects, ensuring their preservation for future generations
- Act as a liaison with various stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices in art conservation
- Prepare bids for conservation initiatives and projects
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Conservation or completion of a certificate/apprenticeship program in conservation
- Experience working as an assistant conservator or full conservator
- Prior experience with objects conservation
