Job Overview

The Division of Surgery – BHRUT NHS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to provide administrative support to the department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator to ensure the smooth running of administrative processes.

Main Responsibilities

The Administrative Support Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support to the department, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assisting with the coordination of patient pathways, including scheduling appointments and managing patient information.
  • Developing and maintaining administrative processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies and procedures.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent experience.
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints and customer care.
  • Audio typing skills of approximately 50 wpm.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.

Desirable Criteria

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Knowledge of patient referral to treatment times and experience of monitoring patient pathways.
  • Proven experience working in a similar role in a hospital/healthcare setting.
