Job Description

McQueens Dairies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Depot Manager to lead our depot facility. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for managing the overall performance, workplace organization, annual budget, and functionality of the depot.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead a team of drivers, stores staff, team leaders, and assistant managers to achieve excellent standards in health and safety, learning and development, customer services, financial control, facilities management, despatch, human resources operations, and transport.
    • Coach and develop team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their roles effectively.
  • Operational Management
    • Manage the depot's overall performance, including health and safety, customer services, and financial control.
    • Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the depot is meeting its targets.
  • Facilities Management
    • Ensure the depot is maintained to a high standard, including housekeeping, maintenance, and repairs.
    • Manage the depot's facilities, including the cold chain, to ensure that products are stored and handled safely.
  • Vehicle Fleet Management
    • Manage the depot's vehicle fleet, including maintenance, repairs, and fuel management.
    • Ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained and that drivers are trained to use them safely.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure that the depot is compliant with all relevant regulations, including health and safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Manage the depot's paperwork, including accident reports, fuel logs, and vehicle maintenance records.
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Background in dairy, food, or drinks distribution preferred.
    • Management experience in a nightshift operation.
    • Exposure to food safety audit standards such as BRC.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • IOSH certified.
    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Word).
    • Ability to work well under pressure.
    • Decisive and effective decision making.
    • Strong leadership capabilities.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Effective time management.
    • Determination to achieve and drive targets.
    • Delegate tasks for optimal, efficient outcomes.
    • Full driving licence.
