We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual to join our south area highways maintenance team. This role offers a great opportunity to consolidate your highway engineering and maintenance knowledge and experience through a busy and challenging position.

You will be an integral member of the highways area office management team, playing a pivotal role in our working arrangements with contractors to deliver the service in support of the county council's vision and corporate priorities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the area manager and sector teams in collating, prioritizing, and ordering weekly capital and routine works orders to match agreed budget, resource, and organizational requirements.
  • Coordinating sector teams in the delivery of highway maintenance activities and winter service to ensure works are ordered and implemented to agreed standards, procedures, specification, program, legislation, time, and budget.
  • Providing first-line responses to highway matters, working to corporate standards, and deputizing for highway engineers as required.
  • Assisting area teams with budget monitoring and management.
  • Producing and maintaining schedules for annual maintenance activities such as grass cutting and gully cleansing, and issuing orders proactively.
  • Managing work carried out by partners and contractors.
  • Line managing up to 2 agency inspector drivers.
