Job Title: Public Affairs and PR Manager

Location: Hybrid (3 days office, 2 days home-based)

Salary: Up to £52,500

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs and PR Manager to join our team at the Chartered Association of Business Schools. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving our public affairs strategy, amplifying our media presence, and championing the interests of our members.

Key Responsibilities:

Public Affairs:
  • Develop and Implement Public Affairs Strategy: Collaborate with senior management and the Council to create and implement an impactful public affairs strategy that supports organizational objectives.
  • Public Affairs Campaigns: Devise and execute public affairs campaigns, both proactive and reactive, to support organizational objectives and advocate for policy and regulatory changes benefiting Chartered ABS members.
  • Policy and Regulatory Engagement: Identify and respond to policy consultations, calls for evidence, and inquiries from government bodies and regulators, maximizing the impact of consultation responses and securing policy changes and recognition for Chartered ABS.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage politicians, stakeholders, and funding bodies using our research and reports, and draft briefing notes for politicians and stakeholders on relevant higher education and small business policy issues.
  • Member Engagement: Raise member awareness and engagement with our public affairs and research activities, and develop and implement measurement mechanisms to evaluate the success and impact of our public affairs strategy.
  • Spokesperson: Act as a spokesperson, representing the organization at meetings, events, and conferences, and monitor and evaluate legislative and regulatory developments to identify opportunities for Chartered ABS.
PR:
  • Media Thought-Leadership: Lead the development of UK media thought-leadership campaigns for Chartered ABS and Small Business Charter, and plan and deliver timely and comprehensive reactive media responses and materials.
  • Communications Materials: Produce communications materials such as press releases, articles, videos, and social media content, and build strong relationships with journalists and stakeholders to influence media coverage and enhance our reputation.
  • Communications Counsel: Provide communications counsel and advice to senior management and Council/Board members, and create thought-leadership and interview opportunities for senior representatives on relevant topics.
  • PR Opportunities: Generate PR opportunities around our research, reports, events, and other programs, and oversee media monitoring, both traditional and social.
  • Measurement and Evaluation: Develop measurement mechanisms to evaluate the success and impact of PR activities.
