Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the work of our occupational therapists.

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including:

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Providing direct patient care under the supervision of qualified occupational therapists.
  • Assisting with therapy sessions and implementing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Contributing to the assessment of patients' functional abilities and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Preparing and maintaining equipment and resources used in therapy sessions.
  • Documenting patient progress and outcomes accurately and effectively.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Administrative & Professional Development
  • Supporting the occupational therapists in managing their caseloads and administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Actively participating in team meetings and contributing to service development initiatives.
  • Identifying areas for learning and development and pursuing opportunities for professional growth.
  • Staying abreast of current research and best practices in occupational therapy.
Service & Personal Development
  • Contributing to the evaluation of clinical effectiveness within the service and supporting Trust strategies regarding clinical governance issues.
  • Participating in staff appraisal and ensuring that individual objectives reflect departmental/Trust objectives.
  • Identifying own training needs and attending relevant courses, meetings, and workshops.
  • Assisting with inducting new starters to the OT Department.
  • Providing supervision to unqualified staff once appropriate experience and competencies are obtained.
  • Demonstrating commitment to continuing education and identifying requirements of self and others.
