Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Environmental Consultant to join our team at GPT Environmental Management Services. The ideal candidate will possess relevant academic qualifications and extensive experience in environmental management, particularly in contaminated land assessment. This role involves overseeing a team of junior consultants and ensuring the delivery of high-quality consultancy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior consultants, including project oversight and approval.
  • Inspire and manage the consultancy team to achieve optimal performance and client satisfaction.
  • Facilitate training and development opportunities to enhance the skills of team members.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify potential business growth areas and collaborate with the Sales Manager for implementation.
  • Establish consultancy charge-out targets and devise strategic action plans to meet them.
  • Work closely with the Compliance Manager to uphold ISO and environmental standards within our Integrated Management System.
  • Maintain strong technical relationships with clients to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Assist in the design and scope of ground investigations.
  • Lead fieldwork activities, including soil logging and environmental sampling.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and data collection to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Coordinate spill response efforts, ensuring safety and effective clean-up methods.
  • Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and guidance.
  • Perform drainage surveys, including CCTV and dye tracing, and manage client interactions throughout the process.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, including desk studies and remediation options.
  • Supervise site work, including intrusive ground investigations and subcontractor management.
  • Analyze and review data to support decision-making.
  • Ensure all work adheres to our established procedures, maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant field such as geology, engineering, chemistry, or environmental science.
  • Willingness to pursue Chartership with a recognized institution.

Experience

  • Proven experience in preparing Phase 1 contaminated land desk studies.
  • Familiarity with planning, designing, and managing contaminated land investigations.
  • Experience in field logging and understanding of CDM Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the UK land contamination framework and its implications for site use and development.
  • Ability to assess land contamination using a risk-based approach.
  • Proficient in report writing and presenting complex information clearly.
  • Management experience is desirable.
