We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Consultant with extensive academic background and qualifications pertinent to contaminated land and environmental management. This role involves overseeing a small team of junior consultants within our organization.
The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience and a strong motivational approach to guide the team in delivering reports that meet our clients' expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide management and guidance to junior consultants, including sign-off on significant projects.
- Lead, inspire, and manage the consultancy team to ensure optimal performance.
- Offer training and support to enhance the consultancy skills of team members.
- Conduct market analysis to identify new business opportunities and stay informed on industry trends, collaborating with the Sales Manager for implementation.
- Establish consultancy charge-out targets and develop action plans to achieve them.
- Work alongside the Compliance Manager to manage ISO and related environmental standards within the Integrated Management System.
- Maintain strong technical relationships with clients.
- Assist in the design and scope of ground investigations.
- Lead fieldwork activities, including soil logging and environmental sampling and monitoring.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and data collection exercises.
- Coordinate spill response on-site, ensuring safe practices and effective clean-up methods.
- Stay updated with relevant environmental regulations and guidance.
- Conduct drainage surveys, including CCTV, dye tracing, and verification surveys, while liaising with clients throughout the process.
- Prepare and review technical reports, including desk studies, ground investigation reports, and remediation options appraisals.
- Supervise site work, including intrusive ground investigations and management of subcontractors.
- Review and analyze data.
- Ensure all work aligns with our procedures and is delivered to the highest quality, health and safety, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
- Degree-level education in a relevant field (e.g., geology, engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or similar).
- Willingness to work towards Chartership with a relevant institution.
Experience
- Experience in preparing Phase 1 contaminated land desk studies.
- Knowledge of planning, designing, and managing contaminated land and site investigations.
- Field logging experience.
- Familiarity with Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application to ground investigations.
- Understanding of the land contamination regime in the UK regarding site use, development planning, environmental permitting, and due diligence.
- Knowledge of the risk-based approach to land contamination assessment.
- Ability to write reports and present complex technical information clearly and accurately.
- Management experience is desirable.

- Full UK driving license.
