Overview of the Role

This position entails collaborating with the Risk Assessment & Business Protection Team to ensure adherence to financial crime and sanctions risk evaluations for clients and matters across the firm's global offices. It also encompasses maintaining obligations related to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing on an international scale, as well as protecting the firm's integrity.

The role includes contributing to strategic planning within the team, supporting professional growth, and supervising risk evaluations and compliance operations.

Key Responsibilities

Routine Operations:

  • Guarantee compliance with regulatory standards and internal protocols.
  • Address elements of AML/ABC compliance policies, recommend process enhancements, and deliver training.
  • Investigate information sources and databases for client verification.
  • Document client data in the Risk Assessment Database.
  • Draft written risk evaluations and escalate to management when necessary.
  • Provide legal insights and clarifications to partners and clients.
  • Regularly update client information and monitor associated risks.
  • Manage urgent inquiries and offer legal counsel on risks.
  • Ensure adherence to AML regulations across various jurisdictions.
  • Consolidate global suppliers within the TPRM platform and assess data security.

Mentorship & Quality Control:

  • Evaluate the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
  • Prepare junior staff for risk assessment duties.
  • Serve as a quality assurance resource for the team's outputs.
  • Lead training sessions and mentor junior colleagues.

Project Engagement and Control Functions:

  • Collaborate on active projects with senior team members.
  • Propose and spearhead project implementations as needed.
  • Guide and direct team members on various projects.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of years' experience in Anti-Money Laundering within professional or financial services.
  • Familiarity with AML/CTF obligations.
  • Degree in Law, Risk Management, Business, Politics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and research capabilities.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Comprehend policy and legislation across jurisdictions.
  • Exhibit sound judgment and a curious mindset.
  • Collaborative team player with diplomatic skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible in response to new situations and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Understanding of international sanctions regulations.
  • Experience in mentoring roles.
