Gloucester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom GE Aviation Full time
About GE Aviation

GE Aviation is a leading manufacturer of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial and military aircraft. Our company is committed to advancing aviation technologies for today and tomorrow.

Job Description

Role Summary

The Aeronautical Engineering Apprentice will work within multiple engineering disciplines for the design and manufacture of aircraft propellers. This four-year program is an alternative to full-time university, allowing the apprentice to study for a Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing Degree part-time at the University of the West of England (Bristol) while gaining industrial experience working directly at GE Aviation on a variety of aviation projects.

The apprentice will complete a HND or Foundation Degree, which will provide the foundation stage of the knowledge elements in the competence qualification. This will support the fundamental scientific and mathematical principles that equip apprentices with the understanding required. The BEng Hons degree structured program is aimed at gaining a variety of competencies required for a successful career in engineering.

Responsibilities

  1. Enrolment in a BEng Hons degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the West of England (Bristol)
  2. A series of work placements within our engineering teams to gain skills and experience working on front-line projects. These typically cover mechanical design, composites design, mechanical analysis, stress analysis, aero-acoustics, controls, electronics, and systems engineering and manufacturing engineering.
  3. Support from technical and pastoral mentors from both GE Aviation and the university
  4. Numerous opportunities to participate in enrichment activities, local school's engagement, and various external events

Qualifications/Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum of 112 UCAS points via:
    • 3 A-Levels at grade BBC or above (including Mathematics and another STEM-based subject e.g., Physics/Electronics/Computing or similar)
