About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Medical Engineering Apprentice to join our team at Gloucestershire Managed Services. As a Medical Engineering Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in supporting the maintenance and repair of medical equipment, ensuring that our facilities and services meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of medical equipment, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct safety testing and routine maintenance on medical equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Use computer skills to operate the asset management system, recording activity and equipment details accurately.
  • Maintain safety in the use and maintenance of medical equipment, ensuring all equipment is correctly decontaminated, labelled, and cleaned prior to acceptance.
  • Diagnose and carry out medical equipment maintenance and repairs, using relevant tools and equipment.
  • Participate in the operation of the medical engineering management system, completing all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of medical equipment, including Planned Preventative Maintenance regimes and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including ward and department managers, to arrange access for equipment repair and maintenance.
Requirements
  • GCSE Grade C (4) or above in English and Maths or equivalent (Functional Skills Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy).
  • GCSE Grade C (4) or above in Science.
  • Basic level of competence in Microsoft Office applications and email programmes.
  • Good communication, interpretation, and interpersonal skills in the English language.
  • Good degree of manual dexterity and coordination of sensory skills.
