Position Overview

A Lead Commercial Strategist is sought for a prominent offshore wind energy organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the bidding process in collaboration with Project Managers and Engineering teams for designated areas.
  • Develop and implement the bidding strategy, ensuring alignment with the overarching Procurement Strategy of the project.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering personnel to ensure that bidding and contractual terms correspond with project scope and deliverables.
  • Conduct assessments and benchmarking of bid submissions.
  • Act as the chief negotiator during discussions with bidders.
  • Engage in thorough and effective negotiations regarding pricing with bidders.
  • Consult with Legal advisors as necessary on bidding and contractual matters.
  • Lead the commercial evaluation of bids and collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering to formulate contract award recommendations for senior management review.
  • Establish and maintain registers of contractual obligations, monitoring compliance by both the project and contractors.
  • Oversee contractor payment applications, coordinating with Project Managers to ensure payment commitments are fulfilled.
  • Work with financial and legal stakeholders to ensure adherence to client policies.
  • Contribute to commercial risk assessments and actively participate in risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with open book tendering processes to maximize project value.
  • Achieve commercial objectives, including cost reductions for assigned contracts.
  • Prepare and revise CAPEX and OPEX Costing Forms for managed contracts.
  • Assist the Project Controls team in budget monitoring and reporting, as well as forecasting.
  • Provide commercial insights for monthly progress reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with the project Supply Chain Plan.
  • Represent the project at external engagements to foster relationships with local suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in contract management.
  • In-depth market knowledge and experience with offshore foundations supply and transport & installation contractors.
  • Proven track record in commercial management of contracts for large-scale energy projects, preferably in offshore or onshore wind sectors.
  • Extensive experience in commercial tender negotiations and managing multiple contracts.
  • Familiarity with negotiating and managing FIDIC contract forms.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Advanced degree in Law (M); knowledge of European Community Laws, International Commercial and Financial Laws, and Contract Law is advantageous.
  • Accredited member of the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management.
  • Experience in the same offshore wind farm project for the past 3-4 years is preferred.
