Position Overview

The Estates Department is seeking to strengthen its maintenance workforce by incorporating a Facilities Operations Supervisor into its team.

As a vital member of the Estates team, you will collaborate across various trades to ensure optimal functionality.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the upkeep of Estates equipment, facilities, and machinery.

- Provide expert technical guidance while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and technical standards.

- Respond to emergency situations outside of regular hours as part of an on-call schedule.

- Contribute to the achievement of PLACE targets and enhance the quality of the patient environment.

- Coordinate and manage planned maintenance activities to support patient care effectively.

- Handle all delegated responsibilities related to the oversight, procurement, and management of estate services.

- Assist in the development and management of estate personnel, financial resources, and inventory within the allocated budget, ensuring that maintenance and minor projects comply with safety standards and statutory requirements.

- Offer advice on electrical, mechanical, or structural issues related to compliance and operational continuity.

- Lead and foster the development of resources to ensure effective management of Estates and Facilities services.

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience post-qualification.
  • Background in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience managing a multi-skilled team.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of operational estate management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with maintenance planning and organization (PPM, reactive, contract, etc.).

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS technical documents (HTNs, HBNs, etc.), British Standards, regulations, and best practice guidelines.
  • Understanding of legislation related to estate services.

Qualifications

  • A HND/HNC in a relevant estate discipline or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable knowledge and experience.

  • Progressing towards a recognized professional qualification acknowledged by the NHS.
