About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Operations Manager to join our Clinical Board as Deputy Director of Operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, leading the strategic and operational management of services to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure the effective and efficient management of all services within the Clinical Board's responsibility and accountability.
  • Support the Director of Operations in providing leadership and direction in the development, analysis, and delivery of operationally relevant data to enable operational decision-making and to monitor and improve operational performance.
  • Lead on high-profile Health Board-wide projects and national priorities as required by the Director of Operations.
  • Act on behalf of the Director of Operations and as a core member of the Clinical Board team in leading on performance delivery, working with Directorates to ensure service priorities and targets are delivered in a timely way.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrable ability and experience to work at Masters level.
  • Recognised management qualification.
  • Project or Programme management qualification or experience.
  • Evidence of management development through CPD and/or formal management courses.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Improving Quality Together - IQT.
  • Significant senior management experience working in general management within the NHS or private sector.
  • Experience of leadership at a senior management level.
  • Experience of leading and managing service development and evidence of achieving improvement.
  • Significant senior management experience including managing a team and change management knowledge.
  • Experience of strategic planning.
Skills and Knowledge
  • In-depth professional knowledge of RTT, Cancer, and unscheduled care targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Innovative and responsive to change.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate, confidently and effectively with a range of clinical professionals.
  • Able to make and take sometimes difficult decisions after analysis of options and implications.

Other Requirements
  • The ability to travel to different hospital sites within the UHB and occasional further to represent the Directorate meetings.
