As an integral part of the Imp Primary Care Network, we are seeking a Patient Care Support Specialist to enhance our Nursing Team. This role involves direct patient interaction, and we are committed to providing additional training to help expand your responsibilities within established competency levels.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing venepuncture
  • Measuring blood pressure
  • Conducting new patient assessments
  • Administering NHS health evaluations
  • Carrying out urinalysis
  • Recording ECGs
  • Managing and processing laboratory samples
  • Delivering routine vaccinations
  • Providing chaperone services and assisting patients during examinations by other healthcare professionals
  • Supporting physicians with minor surgical procedures
  • Assisting the nursing team in managing patients with chronic conditions
  • Adhering to established clinical protocols and referring to nursing staff or physicians as necessary
  • Upholding safeguarding measures and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults
  • Assisting the nursing team with Integrated Care Pathways and audits
  • Ordering medical supplies
  • Participating in the administrative functions of the practice
  • Maintaining accurate patient records at all times
  • Alerting nursing staff, physicians, or the Practice Manager to any potential issues or errors within assigned tasks
  • Attending and contributing to practice meetings as required
  • Performing any other delegated duties relevant to the position

Job Responsibilities

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To assist medical and nursing staff in providing care to the patients of the practice, encompassing treatment, preventive care, screening, patient education, and quality audits.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support and execute routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the Partners, Practice Manager, or Nursing Staff. These tasks may include:

  • Venepuncture
  • Blood pressure assessments
  • New patient evaluations
  • NHS health assessments
  • Urinalysis
  • ECG documentation
  • Laboratory sample management
  • Routine immunizations
  • Chaperoning patients during examinations
  • Assisting with minor surgical procedures
  • Supporting chronic disease management
  • Following clinical protocols and referring as necessary
  • Ensuring the safety and welfare of children and vulnerable adults

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning and sterilizing equipment in accordance with infection control protocols and maintaining clinical areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
  • Stocking and organizing GP and Nurse rooms as required
  • Performing housekeeping duties to ensure a tidy and hygienic environment
  • Ordering necessary supplies
  • Engaging in the administrative processes of the practice
  • Maintaining accurate records consistently
  • Reporting any potential issues to nursing staff, physicians, or the Practice Manager
  • Participating in practice meetings as needed
  • Carrying out any other relevant duties as assigned

Domiciliary Visits

Domiciliary visits will be part of the role.

Candidate Profile

Experience

Essential:

  • Prior experience in direct patient care
  • Experience in a Primary Care setting is advantageous

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the NHS and Primary Care

Qualifications

Essential:

  • GCSE grades A to C
  • NVQ or BTEC qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role

Desirable:

  • Experience in a primary care environment
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Valid driver's license
