Position Title: Service Technician

Department: Project Implementation

Reports To: Senior Service Manager/Field Service Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Service Technician will play a crucial role within our service team, primarily responsible for the commissioning and maintenance of the CSI Energy Storage Solbank Storage Power Block (SPB). This role involves fulfilling obligations under Long Term Service Agreements (LTSAs) for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The ideal candidate must be willing to travel to various project sites across the UK and possess experience with BESS or renewable energy generation equipment in a service capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning of the CSI Energy Storage Solbank Storage Power Block.
  • Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance of SPBs to meet warranty specifications.
  • Managing obligations for BESS equipment under LTSAs, which may encompass:
    • Energy Storage Cabinets (ESCs)
    • Power Conversion Stations (PCS)
    • Ring Main Units (RMUs) / Switchgear
    • Transformers
    • SCADA and networking devices
  • Providing on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and hands-on support to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Participating in the current call-out rota on a 4 in 1 basis.
  • Supervising subcontractors on-site as necessary.
  • Assisting in the development of standard operating procedures and processes.
  • Completing work order documentation promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory of spare parts.
  • Executing proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and switching procedures as required.
  • Supporting client training during the commissioning phase.
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations and policies.
  • Performing additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Electrical Technician.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a service environment, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
  • CSCS Certification.
  • Prior training and knowledge of inverters.
  • Experience with SCADA systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and energy storage applications is beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • First Aid Training.
  • Willingness to travel to regional locations as needed (over 80% of the time).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated professional appearance and conduct.
