Senior Radiography Supervisor

Position Overview
The successful candidate will be a seasoned radiographer, proficient in managing their own patient caseload while ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care. This includes maintaining accurate legal documentation within the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS) for each patient interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as an Operator under the IR(ME)R Radiation Regulations, evaluating the clinical justification of referrals to guarantee that the benefits to patients surpass the associated radiation risks.
- Serve as an advocate for both patients and staff, striving to minimize radiation exposure.
- Deliver prompt, efficient, and courteous radiographic services, adhering to departmental standards while considering the clinical, physical, and cultural needs of patients.
- Oversee extended day duties, leading the General and Emergency Department Radiography on-call service for urgent examinations.
- Adjust work priorities in collaboration with other professionals to accommodate the evolving demands of diagnostic services, particularly during emergencies, ensuring compliance with Trust A&E targets.
- Maintain accountability for professional actions, adhering to established codes of practice and professional guidelines.
- Utilize comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and imaging equipment to select appropriate imaging techniques tailored to individual patient conditions.
- Ensure the safe operation and upkeep of complex, high-value imaging equipment.
- Manage the legal documentation within the RIS and PACS for each completed patient episode, ensuring timely image provision to referrers.
- Participate in rotation across multiple sites as required.
Qualifications
Essential:
- BSc in Radiography (or equivalent).
- Registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC).
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualification in Musculoskeletal or Chest Reporting.
Experience
Essential:
- Proven competence in general, mobile, and theatre radiography.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience in supervising and training junior radiographers, students, and departmental staff.
- Ability to operate VDU equipment for both image acquisition and data management.
Skills
Essential:
- Strong communication skills, with effective oral presentation and interpersonal abilities.
- Adaptable approach to work, demonstrating responsiveness to service needs.
- Capability to organize and prioritize workload effectively.
- Logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
