About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Health Care Support Workers to join the Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit at the Barts Heart Centre. The Barts Heart centre is a cardiac hospital that accepts elective and emergency patients as well as patients that are admitted via the busy heart attack centre.

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care to patients within this critical care environment. You will work closely with the ward manager and the team to ensure quality of care is constantly improving and the service is developing and supporting Trust objectives and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and high-quality care to patients in a critical care setting.
  • Support the ward manager and the team in delivering excellent patient care.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE in maths and English language or minimum of Key Skills Level 1 in literacy and numeracy.
  • Experience of working with the public and demonstrating strong customer care skills.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Clear written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under supervision.
  • Ability to work calmly within a pressured environment.
  • Knowledge of the principles of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
  • Understanding of the need for respect, trust, courtesy and effective communication with both patients and staff.

Desirable Requirements

  • Health care / caring experience.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare.
  • Experience in working within a team.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
