As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering effective engagement, harm reduction, and recovery-focused interventions to service users in both community and prison settings.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver effective engagement, harm reduction, and recovery-focused interventions to service users in community and prison settings.
- Provide an arrest referral service, ensuring a seamless link between police, prison custody suites, prison, and the community.
- Develop and deliver structured group work to clients, using evidence-based programs, including SMART Recovery and Foundations of Recovery.
- Provide assertive outreach to service users' locales, homes, and the local community, supporting appointments to ensure social inclusion and maximize engagement.
- Manage referrals of individuals seen at the police station or referred by police or custody nurses.
- Support peer initiatives and service user feedback.
- Act as a link between the service and the recovery communities within Edinburgh.
We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience working in the criminal justice or related field. You will have an in-depth understanding of the harmful effects associated with drug misuse and offending in relation to health, social welfare, housing, employability, and personal relationships.

- The ability to work unsociable hours as and when required.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.

- Good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice.
- Supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritizes the needs of service users.
- Understanding of information governance processes and commitment to follow and apply all necessary safeguards.
- Commitment to seeking out learning opportunities to improve and broaden professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others.
- 25 days holiday (rising by 1 day for each year's service, capped at 30 days).
