Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Obstetrician to join our team at Newham University Hospital. The successful candidate will have a special interest in Fetal Medicine and will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our Women's and Children's Health Clinical Academic Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with complex obstetric and fetal medicine needs
  • Lead and manage clinical teams to deliver high-quality patient care and improve clinical outcomes
  • Contribute to the development of our Women's and Children's Health Clinical Academic Group, including research, education, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of clinical policies and guidelines
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve patient care and outcomes
Requirements
  • CCST/CCT (or equivalent) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • ATSM or equivalent in Fetal Medicine
  • ATSM in Obstetrics and Labour Ward Management
  • Wide experience in Obstetrics and Labour Ward Management
  • Experience in Management of Recurrent Miscarriages
  • Completed recognised management course
Person Specification
  • Record of Teaching at under- and post-graduate levels
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary teaching
  • Record of attendance at training for trainer courses
  • Record of self-development as a trainer
Knowledge and Skills
  • An understanding of Clinical Governance and its application to Obstetrics
  • Record of completed audit projects
  • Critical incident reporting
