About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our dynamic team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care and management in obstetrics and gynaecology.
  • Develop and maintain competencies required to carry out duties, including prompt attendance at direct clinical care programmed activities.
  • Ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and respond to their views.
  • Develop and deliver quality improvement within the Directorate.
  • Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust's translational research portfolio, meeting Research Governance requirements.
  • Provide high-quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other healthcare professions.
  • Act as educational supervisor and appraiser, ensuring external accreditation of training posts.
  • Support multi-disciplinary teaching and training.
Person Specification
  • Full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within six months of the interview.
  • MRCOG or equivalent specialist qualification.
  • ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice.
  • Any Gynaecological ATSM.
  • Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT.
  • Clinical skills required to work as a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology in the UK.
  • Understanding of principles of audit or quality improvement and its use to drive service improvement.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English, build rapport, listen, persuade/negotiate.
  • Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions, and exert appropriate authority.
  • Empathy, understanding, listening skills, patience, and ability to work co-operatively with others.
  • Able to change and adapt, respond to changing circumstances, and cope with setbacks or pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
