Apprentice Insurance Specialist - Birmingham
Job Overview
In this role, you will collaborate closely with Underwriters and manage a diverse portfolio of Accounts to facilitate profitable renewals and foster new business opportunities in alignment with established strategies. Your primary focus will be on supporting underwriting decisions and engaging in business development initiatives. Utilizing your analytical prowess, relationship management, and communication skills, you will assist in underwriting a range of accounts while managing referrals that exceed your authority limits.

Responsibilities
- Assessing assigned cases and aiding underwriting decisions while adhering to established processes and authority levels to secure profitable business.
- Recognizing complex or non-standard risks and escalating them to senior colleagues for appropriate handling.
- Assisting senior colleagues with non-standard cases, following established guidelines and procedures.
- Issuing policy wordings or endorsements and ensuring timely and accurate data entry into systems.
- Building effective relationships with Account Management and other colleagues.
- Participating in technical audits and peer reviews to maintain a robust control environment.
- Contributing to the development of new policy wordings or reviewing existing ones to ensure accuracy.
- Supporting a designated portfolio of Accounts to maximize revenue potential from new and renewal business.
- Engaging in marketing initiatives and business development strategies to enhance overall revenue and business mix.
- Contributing to the formulation of effective business strategies and market propositions based on insights into local markets and competitors.
- Seeking guidance and support from senior management as necessary.
- Promptly identifying and escalating complex cases to senior colleagues to ensure exceptional service delivery.
- Cultivating strong, long-term relationships with colleagues to facilitate new business opportunities.
- Maintaining awareness of and compliance with regulatory frameworks at all times.
