About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Economic Advisor to join our team at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). As an Economic Advisor, you will play a key role in shaping high-quality analysis for policy and providing robust and influential economic advice to inform strategic direction and ministerial decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a programme of analysis to inform the Strategy, Policy, Digital and Technology Directorate (SPDT), impacting on strategic direction, ministerial decisions, and informing key stakeholders.
  • Define policy questions, and the options for analysis that will have most impact and manage their development with appropriate analytical assurance.
  • Manage and plan a portfolio of work which ranges from Impact Assessments / De Minimis Assessments (DMAs); to advisory roles, or lighter-touch, creative analysis.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues to develop economist skills to future proof the skillset within DVSA.
Requirements
  • Have a first or upper second-class honours degree in economics (or international equivalent), or a postgraduate degree in economics. If it is a joint degree, at least 50% of the course modules must be in economics.
  • Have studied both macroeconomics and microeconomics.
