About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Advisor to join our team at UK Research and Innovation. As a key member of our Research England department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing policies that drive excellence and impact in research universities in England.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and strategies to maximize the excellence and impact of research in universities in England.
  • Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to build and maintain a strategic network of relationships to inform policy development and implementation.
  • Lead the development of work packages to evaluate the effectiveness of individual research funding streams and contribute to wider policy review outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of research policy and analysis, with the ability to distill key points for a range of audiences.
  • Give presentations and lead discussions at internal and external meetings relating to research evidence and policy.
Requirements
  • Experience of policy or strategy development and delivery, or of strategic engagement for policy or strategy development.
  • Experience of synthesising information from different quantitative and qualitative sources, drawing conclusions to inform policy outcomes.
  • Excellent communications skills, with good attention to detail and nuance, able to communicate effectively with a mixture of audiences and levels of seniority.
  • Able to plan and prioritise a varied workload to ensure that work meets deadlines, and be flexible and adaptable to competing and changing priorities and demands.
