Job Summary

The Senior Support Worker role in the Neurodevelopmental Team offers a unique opportunity to support the team in conducting Autism and ADHD assessments. This position requires a strong understanding of child development and neurodevelopmental presentations in children.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the neurodevelopmental assessment of children and young people, ensuring all records are kept up to date and confidential. They will also attend and contribute to team meetings to support the development of the team.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of a more patient-focused approach, reviewing all information provided by families, including reports, forms, and teacher reports. They will start formulating reports with clinician support and identify any additional assessments needed. Regular supervision will be provided, and the candidate will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists, speech and language therapists, occupational health practitioners, nurses, and social workers.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of child development and neurodevelopmental presentation in children

Desirable

  • Ability to identify relevant information with guidance and apply it to pre-assessment
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of written English GCSE English or equivalent

Desirable

  • Training in Counselling/Psychology or qualification related to Mental Health issues
  • Training in child development with an understanding of neurodiversity

Experience

Essential

  • Maintain patient records both written and electronic
  • Ability to effectively write reports
