Overview

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking dedicated night support workers to provide essential care for children and young individuals in our residential facilities. You will collaborate with a nurturing and expanding team to ensure a safe and supportive environment for children aged 8 to 18 who face emotional and behavioral challenges.

The role requires a compassionate and resilient individual who can address the needs of these young people while also creating enjoyable experiences.

About the Role

In this position, you will work as part of a team to create a secure and nurturing atmosphere for young individuals in care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing care for children as part of a corporate parenting role, which includes supporting their educational attendance, adhering to routines, and establishing healthy boundaries while collaborating with professionals such as social workers and families.
  • Participating in shift work, including night hours with alternating weekends off.
  • Leading by example for the young individuals, while adhering to Buckinghamshire Council's policies and procedures.
  • Attending and supporting young individuals during professional meetings.
  • Assisting young individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
  • Documenting and reporting any changes or concerns regarding the well-being of individuals.

About You

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing the highest level of care for our children and young people. The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care or an equivalent qualification.
  • Be capable of managing challenging behaviors, with ongoing training provided for support.
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactively assist young individuals in a challenging environment.
  • Possess an open and progressive mindset towards healthy change and parenting approaches.
  • Be willing to engage in a variety of tasks, as each day presents new challenges.
