The young individuals you will assist range from 8 to 18 years old and may exhibit emotional and behavioral challenges. Therefore, we require a resilient yet compassionate individual capable of addressing their needs and difficulties while also ensuring a fun and positive experience.

About Buckinghamshire Council

Buckinghamshire Council is in the process of expanding our children’s residential services to ensure that the children we care for have suitable homes in the surrounding Bucks area. We currently operate six homes, with Highlands being a new addition, and anticipate further growth in the coming years, providing numerous opportunities for professional development.

We are looking for enthusiastic, driven, and inspiring individuals to accompany us on this journey. You will enjoy a variety of benefits designed to enhance your well-being both professionally and personally.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide care for children in a corporate parenting capacity: assist with educational attendance, adhere to routines, and establish healthy boundaries while working alongside professionals such as social workers and families.
  • Participate in shift work, including night hours with alternating weekends off.
  • Serve as a role model for the young people, adhering to Buckinghamshire Council’s policies and procedures.
  • Attend and support young individuals during professional meetings.
  • Assist young people in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
  • Document and report any changes or concerns regarding the well-being of individuals.

Candidate Profile

We seek individuals who are committed to providing exceptional care for our children and young people.

  • Ideally possess a Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care or an equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors; ongoing training will be provided to support you.
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactively assist young individuals in a challenging environment.
  • Maintain an open and progressive mindset towards healthy change and parenting approaches.
  • Be adaptable and willing to engage in various tasks; each day presents new challenges.
