About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Protection Design Specialist to join our design team at Clancy. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design delivery of substation plant, equipment, and protection systems across a range of electrical infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess client project requirements and produce detailed plant and equipment specifications
  • Create system designs ensuring compliance with applicable specifications and tender documentation
  • Assist with tendering activities and provide technical guidance for proposed schemes
  • Prepare site layouts and schematics for multi-staged substation construction projects
  • Manage external plant and equipment manufacturers, design consultants, and oversee design outputs
  • Liaise with internal and external design teams, clients, manufacturers, and consultancies to produce accurate designs
  • Produce detailed electrical control and protection schematic drawings for construction of large electrical infrastructure schemes
  • Prepare functional specifications and provide advice on procurement of plant and equipment
  • Review equipment manufacturers' proposals and liaise with equipment manufacturers to ensure equipment suitability
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Proficient understanding of electricity industry and regulatory standards
  • Good understanding of electrical plant, transformer, protection, relays, and control disciplines
  • Strong electrical knowledge within the contestable and non-contestable connections sides of the market
  • Ability to take a brief scope of works and assist in producing a detailed design based on appropriate standards
  • Candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent
