The Senior Training Engineer will be responsible for enabling the delivery of work in complex environments, removing unnecessary obstacles to delivery whilst maintaining robust compliance with regards to relevant Ionising Radiations legislation and policies.

Key responsibilities include:

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To enable the delivery of work in complex environments, removing unnecessary obstacles to delivery whilst maintaining robust compliance with regards to relevant Ionising Radiations legislation and policies.
  2. To develop and execute detailed radiological protection programmes in support of project delivery.
  3. Provide expert-level advice on Radiological Protection matters to ensure compliance with Ionising Radiation Regulations and any mandatory company and/or client policies on sites.
  4. To take a leading role within the Radiological Protection team, acting as the responsible point of contact for Radiological Protection on project work.
  5. Support the development of Project Execution Plans to ensure a fit-for-purpose approach is taken to each project.
  6. Identify potential innovations to projects and advise project teams and/or clients of lean delivery options.
  7. Direct and support Graduate Trainees and Assistant Radiation Protection Engineers as required, including to meet project aims and their personal development targets.
  8. Develop Radiological Protection arrangements for projects, including documentation such as Radiological Risk Assessments, Radiological Design Documents, Critical Examinations, Dose Estimates, Local Rules, Contingency Plans and Investigation Reports.
  9. Review of radiological monitoring data for operational packages of work.
  10. Advise on radioactive waste aspects of project as required with support from other specialists, if necessary.
  11. Collaborate with projects and clients to help solve complex and challenging problems while maintaining excellent relationships with our customers and suppliers.
  12. Support colleagues learning and development through training delivery, sharing of knowledge and experience.
  13. Take accountability for the standard of their own work, the work of any junior RP project staff and any direct reports through the line management chain, taking direction from Senior RP Engineer as appropriate.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. Educated to NQF Level 6 (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent) in a scientific or engineering related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent capability supported by significant experience.
  2. The ability to manage a workload with low levels of supervision is essential.
  3. A basic level of commercial awareness is desirable.
