Senior Payroll Assistant to carry out the following daily responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide initial support for payroll inquiries.
2. Process new hires, terminations, tax code modifications, and other payroll data.
3. Verify timesheets for accuracy and authorization.
4. Maintain precise records of Benefits in Kind (BIK) and process through payroll.
5. Assist in the preparation, reconciliation, and execution of monthly payrolls.
6. Maintain monthly journals and collaborate with the finance department for related inquiries.
7. Process pension contributions to appropriate providers.
8. Manage Attachment of Earnings Orders and ensure timely payments to local authorities.
9. Prepare and facilitate timely payment of monthly payroll liabilities concerning PAYE.
10. Assist with the completion of National Statistic returns.
11. Prepare calculations for P11D and submit to HMRC.
12. Aid in year-end payroll processing.
13. Generate ad hoc payroll reports.
14. Provide payroll coverage in the absence of the payroll manager.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Abilities
1. Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a payroll assistant or in a similar role.
2. Proficient in payroll software, ideally with experience in Workday or other cloud-based systems.
3. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
4. Up-to-date understanding of payroll legislation regarding PAYE, SMP, SSP, NI & BIK.
5. Degree in Accounting or pursuing a payroll/finance qualification.
6. Excellent mathematical and accounting capabilities.
