Commitment to Equality and Diversity

NHS Scotland is dedicated to fostering equality and diversity within our workforce, ensuring that we eliminate any form of unlawful discrimination. Our goal is to create a workforce that is truly representative of the community we serve, where every employee feels valued and empowered to perform at their best.

Position Overview

We are looking to appoint a Rheumatology Specialist to join our esteemed team. This role will be based within our healthcare facilities, which are equipped with a comprehensive range of District General Hospital Specialties and exceptional support services, including a state-of-the-art radiology department. Our organization is deeply committed to education, maintaining strong affiliations with academic institutions, and actively engaging in both undergraduate and postgraduate training programs.

Role Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Rheumatologist, ready to join a collaborative and supportive team that delivers Rheumatology services to diverse populations across both urban and rural settings. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance and innovate Rheumatology services for a community of approximately 400,000 residents, while also contributing to the broader development of Rheumatology services across the region.

In this role, you will collaborate with a team of 8 Consultants and a dedicated group of nursing staff, specialty pharmacists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, all committed to improving patient pathways and ensuring high standards of care, safety, and quality. Our department also benefits from administrative support for database management.

Subspecialty Interests

The recruitment process will consider candidates with subspecialty interests, particularly in areas such as axial spondyloarthropathy and psoriatic arthritis, which are highly desirable for our Rheumatology service. The department values close collaboration with Primary Care, and an interest in enhanced vetting and ARCT is also advantageous.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold full GMC registration and a license to practice, with a minimum of 10 years of full-time postgraduate training, including at least 6 years in a relevant specialty, or demonstrate equivalent experience and competencies.
