Role Overview
This pivotal position within the core team of the Centre for Global Equality Ltd comes at a dynamic phase of our organisational growth. We are in search of a seasoned finance and operations expert who is enthusiastic about refining our systems and processes to uphold best practices across all facets of our operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Financial and Operations Lead will be integral to both the operational and strategic dimensions of the organisation. Given our status as a small yet rapidly expanding entity, the role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, from routine tasks to long-term strategic initiatives, necessitating adaptability and versatility.
The Financial and Operations Lead will be accountable for managing the organisation's financial resources and supervising the operational and administrative frameworks essential for the effective delivery of our programme activities. This includes overseeing both physical and digital infrastructure to support our hybrid working model. A significant aspect of the operational responsibilities will involve managing our new collaborative workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Oversee the organisation's banking operations and execute payments.
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software.
- Prepare financial reports for projects and programmes as required by funding bodies.
- Generate monthly management accounts and quarterly updates for the Board of Trustees.
- Compile annual financial statements for audit purposes.
- Assist in the formulation and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Operational Oversight:
- Collaborate with the CEO to foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
- Manage the organisation's digital office infrastructure and content management systems.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the organisation's facilities and collaborative workspace.
- Oversee human resources functions in partnership with external service providers.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Cultivate relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Support the recruitment and management of staff, interns, and volunteers.
Required Skills and Experience
Essential:
- A minimum of five years' experience in a finance and operations role.
- A professional accounting qualification.
- Familiarity with charity accounting standards and statutory reporting.
- Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office and accounting software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable:
- Experience managing financial processes for large government grants.
- Understanding of international development frameworks related to budgeting and financial reporting.
- Background in an academic-related role at a UK university.
- Experience in managing office facilities.
- Proven track record in staff management and development.
