Transport Supervisor Role

Menzies Distribution Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team based in Coalville. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of our transportation operations while adhering to legislative requirements, health and safety standards, and customer service expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement transportation plans to meet customer needs and ensure efficient delivery of goods.
  2. Manage and coordinate the activities of drivers, including pre-briefing and de-briefing, to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and any issues that may arise.
  3. Monitor and control the execution of transportation plans, making adjustments as necessary to maintain acceptable customer service levels.
  4. Minimize/maximize the impact on vehicle earnings to ensure we meet budgeted targets.
  5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including drivers, customers, and other team members, to resolve issues and ensure seamless operations.
  6. Adhere to and enforce transport-related compliance, including drivers' hours, tachograph, and WTD legislation.
  7. Conduct investigations and return-to-work interviews as required.
  8. Source local agency drivers and sub-contractors as needed, in conjunction with our preferred supplier list.
  9. Coordinate and build key performance indicator reports for customers.
  10. Ensure accurate trailer checks are completed and sent to relevant parties.

Requirements:

  1. 'Right to work' in the UK.
  2. Experience in a busy transport office environment.
  3. Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph, and WTD legislation.
  4. Strong negotiating skills.
  5. Good standard of education.
  6. IT literacy.
  7. Knowledge of health and safety.
  8. Commercial understanding.
  9. Knowledge of transport systems.
