Domestic Abuse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our Extended Domestic Abuse Team as an Engagement Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of families and young people experiencing domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with perpetrators of domestic abuse, using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to promote equality and challenge harmful behaviors.
- Provide high-quality direct work and group interventions to adults who cause harm, working closely with children and families to address domestic abuse and promote safety.
- Deliver group-work interventions, such as Caring Dads, and utilize recognized tools and approaches, including the Safe and Together model and Signs of Safety principles.
- Co-work cases with allocated Key Workers or Social Workers, ensuring a whole-family approach and prioritizing the safety of children and adult victims.
- Attend relevant meetings, such as Core Group meetings or Child Protection Conferences, to share information and ensure a coordinated approach to domestic abuse support.
- A passion for supporting families to reduce harm caused by domestic abuse and a belief in the ability of families to make positive changes.
- Experience working with perpetrators of domestic abuse in a statutory or voluntary setting, with the ability to offer challenge and support to individuals.
- A thorough understanding of the legislative, procedural, and research base underpinning work with children and families experiencing domestic abuse.
- Ability to work proactively, persistently, and persuasively with individuals who may not be willing to engage with services.
- Capacity to identify indicators of risk and carry out effective risk assessment and safety planning in relation to domestic abuse concerns.
- A level 3 qualification (NVQ3) or a recognized professional qualification (Social Work or Youth Work) or substantial experience in providing direct support to children and families.
