About the Role

Galop, the UK's leading LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Trans+ Advocate to join our team. As a specialist lead, you will provide expert support and advocacy to Trans and Non-Binary victims and survivors of abuse and violence in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver advice, support, and advocacy to Trans and Non-Binary victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
  • Act as a specialist lead within the advocacy team to ensure the specific needs of trans and non-binary survivors are met.
  • Provide support, advice, and expertise to colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Represent Galop with key stakeholders, advocating for the needs of the LGBT+ community.
  • Develop and deliver needs-led specialist support services.
Requirements
  • Deep understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT+ people are subjected to, including causes, impact, and barriers to accessing services.
  • Expertise in delivering specialist support services.
  • Solutions-focussed and collaborative approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good resilience and self-care, with the ability to work in an environment where abuse and violence are regularly discussed.
  • Understanding of the impact of trauma on individuals and teams.
