About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Support Assistant to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional care and support to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of cultural diversity and individual patient needs.
  • Contribute to a safe environment by promptly reporting any incidents or potential hazards to the designated nurse.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of instruments to appropriate sterile services collection points across the Trust.
  • Assist patients with prescription collection and medication retrieval, passing it to the relevant nurse for dispensing.
  • Collect snack boxes from catering services for patient consumption.
  • Provide water and refreshments to patients as required.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen area, including utensils, refrigerator temperature logs, proper storage of consumable items, and regular cleaning of drinks machines and water coolers according to Trust guidelines.
  • Monitor linen deliveries, reporting any defects or shortages to the sister or nurse in charge, and change curtains around couches as needed.
  • Keep sluice and utility areas tidy, bagging soiled linen according to Trust policy.
  • Clean fans within the designated area.
  • Perform daily quality control checks on blood glucose meters according to manufacturer instructions and accurately record these checks.
  • Always act responsibly and safely, fostering a warm and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
