Role Overview
The Operations Manager will oversee the transportation and planning functions of the organization, ensuring the cost-effective and timely delivery of services. This role is pivotal in driving continuous enhancements and developing integrated transport solutions to provide superior and economical service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a cohesive interface across all operational areas to promote efficiency and effectiveness.
- Inspire and cultivate team leaders, equipping them with the necessary skills to manage their teams effectively.
- Ensure adherence to all transport regulations and health & safety standards.
- Facilitate clear communication throughout the transportation operations.
- Identify and implement operational changes to enhance efficiency and performance levels.
- Foster a secure and safe environment for team members and company assets.
- Achieve operational efficiency through daily management and ongoing objectives for staff.
- Supervise a team of approximately 60 drivers, along with a management structure that includes Transport Managers, Supervisors, and Schedulers.
- Ensure that key performance indicators (KPIs) are met, including compliance, service quality, and financial targets.
- Uphold compliance with statutory and company safety standards.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate who possesses:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in transport management within a multi-site environment.
- A solid understanding of the fuel distribution industry.
- Strong communication skills at all levels, with the ability to positively influence the organization.
- Experience in developing management teams within a logistics context is preferred.
- A professional demeanor, approachable attitude, and a commitment to ensuring smooth operations.
- Confidence in setting clear objectives and motivating teams.
- Adaptability to change and the ability to thrive in a competitive and demanding environment.
- The capability to work efficiently across various business and functional areas.
- A commercially driven mindset.
- A focus on quality and customer service.
- National/International CPC certification (Essential).
