About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Sustainability Officer to join our team at Islamic Help. As a key member of our programme development team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the charity's commitment to environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life for beneficiaries through environmental initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Climate Action Strategy

Work closely with the Director of International Programmes & Partnerships to develop and implement a comprehensive climate action strategy that aligns with Islamic Help's mission and values.

  • Lead Climate Change Advocacy Campaigns

Develop and oversee climate change advocacy campaigns and projects that promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness about the importance of climate action.

  • Liaise with UN Agencies and Partners

Liaise with relevant UN agencies and partners to ensure Islamic Help's representation on relevant coordination platforms and to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in climate change and environmental sustainability.

  • Support Programme Development

Work with the Director of International Programmes & Partnerships and sustainability experts to develop and implement programmes that promote environmental sustainability and improve the quality of life for beneficiaries.

  • Identify Funding Opportunities

Identify and pursue funding opportunities that support Islamic Help's climate action strategy and programme development.

  • Develop Environmental Policy

Develop and implement an environmental policy that guides Islamic Help's operations and ensures the organization's commitment to environmental sustainability.

Requirements
  • Education

A degree in international development-related studies or environmental sciences with a focus on environmental sustainability.

  • Experience

At least 3 years of experience in programme development, climate change advocacy, or environmental sustainability.

  • Skills

Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Language

Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
