Job Description

We are seeking a talented Environmental Sustainability professional to join our growing team at Laing O'Rourke. This is a perfect opportunity to continue developing your career in this important field.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and integration of our environmental and energy management system, ensuring that we meet our client and stakeholder's needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive Sustainability Ambitions

Support the business in driving our ambitions to push the boundaries of sustainability, helping us to achieve our goal to be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.

Promote Environmental Initiatives

Promote the environmental initiatives aligned with our sustainability strategy, such as carbon reduction, waste minimisation and the protection and enhancement of nature.

Build Collaborative Relationships

Build trusting collaborative relationships with project delivery teams, clients and stakeholders and fully understand the client context and deliver against their needs.

Implement Environmental Management System

Implement the LOR Energy and Environmental Management System, ensuring that it is effective and efficient.

Manage Environmental Risks

Manage the environmental risks, deliverables and requirements, involving our design team and delivery teams by appropriately identifying risk mitigation and continual review of control measures in place.

Develop Environmental Training

Develop and deliver environmental training to ensure that all team members are aware of their responsibilities and roles in maintaining a sustainable environment.

Manage Environmental Data

Manage comprehensive environmental data reporting requirements upstream and downstream, setting KPIs that drive continual improvement and monitor performance of the project.

Investigate Environmental Incidents

Report and investigate environmental incidents and non-conformances, followed by working with the project leadership team to embed effective corrective actions.

Provide Technical Advice

Provide technical advice to project design and delivery teams to identify and mitigate environmental risks and ensure most suitable practices are adopted.

Requirements
  1. Experience

Experience working on large infrastructure projects, with a positive approach to the challenges of change and a willingness to help others become receptive and responsive to change.

Qualifications

Hold a degree in an appropriate environment or sustainability discipline, with a deep understanding of environmental legislation and requirements, the requirements of ISO14001 and ISO50001 and Management Systems.
