We are at an exciting phase in our journey as we transition from a start-up to a scale-up. As a business development manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the commercialization of TidalSense's medical device solutions (both current and future) into the UK provider market.

Job Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to develop and execute commercial and business development strategies that drive profitable revenue growth and market expansion within the respiratory healthcare market. This will involve establishing growth across the NHS and provider landscape in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Strategy Development: Identify, develop, and implement commercial and business development strategies to achieve revenue, profit, and market share targets in the respiratory healthcare market.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and establish strategic partnerships with the NHS, independent healthcare providers, and other associated commercial organizations.
  • Proposal Development and Negotiation: Develop commercial proposals and negotiation strategies for customers and partners to secure sustainable, scalable, and profitable contracts and agreements.
  • Contract Mobilization: Coordinate and participate in the mobilization of new contracts, ensuring customers are appropriately trained and using TidalSense products and services to maximize utilization post-deployment.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, marketing, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment and execution of commercial objectives.
  • Commercial Performance Monitoring: Monitor and manage commercial Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) within agreed financial metrics; and use data-derived insights to inform commercial decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices to ensure business operations adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote brand awareness and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
  • CRM Management: Manage the day-to-day functionality of the CRM, enabling the quick and accurate generation of high-quality commercial reports.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • UK Healthcare Market Understanding: An excellent understanding of the UK healthcare market, including pricing strategies and NHS reimbursement routes. Previous experience of selling to and negotiating at an ICB level is essential.
  • Change Management: Change management – previous experience of defining and developing a market, changing behaviors and long-standing clinical practices.
  • Negotiation and Communication: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex data and make informed business decisions.
  • Results-Oriented: Results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and achieve financial targets.
  • Integrity and Ethics: High level of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to compliance and corporate governance.
  • Regulatory Environment: Comprehensive understanding of the UK regulatory environment relating to the sale and marketing of regulated medical devices.
  • Communication and Presentation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas and professionally represent TidalSense with a variety of senior stakeholders.
  • Medical and Scientific Understanding: The ability to understand and present medical and scientific content.
  • Adaptability: Adaptability – the ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

Desirable Skills and Competencies:

  • Remote/Hybrid Work Experience: Proven effectiveness working in a remote/hybrid environment.
  • Non-EU Healthcare Market Experience: Experience of developing a similar business within non-EU healthcare markets.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Scientific or Medical Discipline: Bachelor's degree (preferably in a scientific or medical discipline) with relevant post-graduate experience in a healthcare-related field.
  • Commercial Experience: Proven track record of success in commercial roles within the healthcare industry, with a strong focus on sales, business development, and strategic planning.
  • UK and EU Healthcare Market Dynamics: Solid understanding of the UK and EU healthcare market dynamics, including regulations, reimbursement policies, and customer preferences.
  • Value-Based Business Development: Prior experience of value-based business development. Highly numerate and comfortable discussing health economic data with commissioners.
  • Leadership Experience: Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • MBA or Equivalent: MBA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Medical Devices and Respiratory Healthcare: Previous experience of medical devices and/or respiratory healthcare.
  • Start-up/Scale-up Experience: Previous start-up/scale-up experience, or a demonstrable understanding of what is needed to succeed in this stage of business.
