A leading Regional Main Contractor is seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to join their team on a permanent basis. The company is based in Hertfordshire and is known for their innovative approach to building, refurbishing, and regenerating homes and communities across the UK.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working on new build residential projects for a reputable main contractor or developer. They will be responsible for obtaining technical drawings, gaining approvals, and minimising risk through uncoordinated information.

The role involves overseeing the preparation of optimisation plans, briefing and driving external consultants, and preparing technical specifications. The Design Coordinator will also attend site progress meetings, carry out site inspections, and ensure current drawings are filed in order.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining Technical Drawings to enable efficient site starts
  • Gaining approvals to ensure that sites commence on time
  • Minimising risk through uncoordinated information
  • Overseeing preparation of the optimisation plans through to approval
  • Briefing and driving external consultants in the preparation and issue of production information to an agreed programme, fee, and scope
  • Preparing technical specifications in line with requirements determined
  • Attending site progress meetings and carrying out site inspections
  • Ensuring current drawings are filed in order

Requirements:

  • Experience of coordinating and providing technical guidance and support to residential developments
  • Ideally Degree Qualified / HNC / ONC
  • Competent using AutoCAD, Viewpoint, Excel, Word, Power Projects, Power Point
  • Strong Design and construction knowledge
  • Good Technical and Building Construction knowledge
  • Building Regulations knowledge
  • A good understanding of NHBC legislation
  • Strong on Health & Safety / CDM Regulations
  • Good understanding of Planning legislation
