JOB TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Technician

LOCATION: The Gyle Shopping Centre

SHIFT PATTERN: 5/7, 40 hours per week

PAY RATE: £12.00 per hour

OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Objective & Responsibilities:

As a vital member of the ABM Service Team at The Gyle Shopping Centre, you will play a crucial role in ensuring exceptional service delivery to all visitors. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of both indoor and outdoor areas. This includes performing essential maintenance tasks alongside daily cleaning duties, such as litter collection, vacuuming, pressure washing, polishing surfaces, and maintaining our highly regarded restroom facilities. You will also operate modern cleaning machinery, including road sweepers and scrubber dryers, while adhering to cleaning protocols and compliance standards under the guidance of supervisors and management.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as a supportive point of contact for customers requiring assistance.
  • Provide assistance to tenants as needed.
  • Execute maintenance tasks effectively.
  • Monitor health and safety conditions and report any concerns to management.
  • Ensure compliance with cleaning and maintenance checks specific to the site.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for clients and customers.
  • Represent the ABM brand with excellence.

Person Specification:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and influencing abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in cleaning or maintenance services within a retail or similar setting (required).
  • First Aid certification (desirable).
  • Able to build rapport with customers and clients effectively.
  • Articulate with strong communication skills.
  • Capable of working collaboratively within a team.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the role and the organization.
