This is a remarkable opportunity to become part of a dynamic finance team dedicated to supporting philanthropic initiatives at the Development & Alumni Department of the University of Edinburgh. We seek a motivated and well-organized individual with relevant financial and nonprofit sector experience.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Finance Officer to manage all monthly contributions received by the University of Edinburgh Development Trust. This position will be primarily responsible for the efficient processing, documentation, and reconciliation of donations made to the University of Edinburgh Development Trust. Being part of a small yet expanding finance team, the selected individual will gain comprehensive experience in various aspects of financial management related to philanthropic fundraising within the nonprofit sector.

As a Financial Operations Coordinator, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all contributions are accurately recorded and attributed to the appropriate donors. You will also assist in generating the gift aid claim and maintaining the gift aid declaration database. Furthermore, this role will lead the month-end reconciliation process, enabling the team to facilitate the timely transfer of donations to the broader University.

This position also encompasses administrative responsibilities within the finance team, including but not limited to: maintaining detailed procedural documentation, coordinating team schedules, and ensuring the organized filing of both digital and physical records.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Proficient in computer-based financial and database systems, with a minimum of three years of experience in a finance-related role.
  • Strong Excel skills with experience in financial reconciliation.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and analytical proficiency.
  • Capable of handling sensitive financial information with discretion.
  • Experience in processing various payment methods, including CAF, cheques, and card transactions.
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education sector.
  • Understanding of UK Charity regulations, including Gift Aid and GDPR.
